Stop At: Chao Phraya River, 780/488 Charoen Krung Road, Bang Kho Laem, Bangkok 10120 Thailand
Like all urban rivers, the history of the Chao Phraya is intertwined with the city it flows through. The original site was chosen by early settlers because of its fertility and abundant fish. Later King Taksin, after the fall of Ayutthaya to the Burmese, located his new capital here, on the western banks today known as Thonburi. In 1782 King Rama I, finding the eastern banks more favourable, founded modern Bangkok and celebrated the occasion by building some of the world's most beguiling temples. Later still the canals it feeds became famous, earning Bangkok its 'Venice of the East' epithet. And, meanwhile, eminent Western authors like Maugham, Conrad and Coward were singling out the Chao Phraya as one of their favourite spots in the Far East. We will cross this river twice by long-tail boat.
Duration: 10 minutes
Stop At: Bangkachao Pier, ท่าเรือกำนันขาว 33 Soi Phetchahung Rd, Tambon Bang Kachao, Amphoe Phra Pradaeng, Chang Wat Samut Prakan 10130, Thailand
Bang Krachao island is a green oasis right in the heart of Bangkok. This urban jungle is actually visible from the higher floors of many apartment blocks along Sukhumvit Road, Sathorn Road and Narathiwat Road, however, it remains unknown to most travelers.
Bang Krachao is nothing like the tropical paradise of Koh Lipe or Koh Kood. However, it is unique and amazing in its own right.
Bang Krachao is actually a man-made island located in the Chao Praya River. Years ago a canal was cut allowing cargo boats to shorten their journey along the river. Bang Krachao is commonly referred to as the "Lung of Bangkok", this is due to the huge amount of trees which eat up the city’s air pollution. There are thousands of mangrove trees around the perimeter of the island and plenty more jungle within the island itself.
In a rapidly developing city, Bang Krachao is one place which has managed to withstand change. So, you better visit before it’s too late!
Duration: 2 hours

Amazing 4 hours where we cycled through so many different areas, went on a longtail boat twice across the river, fed some fish, watched so many families enjoying themselves away from the hustle and bustle of Bangkok. Nischa our guide made our trip perfect - amazing tour guide. Would do again
Good value for your money. Our tour guides name was Best. He has a very good positive attitude and spoke good English. It was a comfortable bike through through the city, shuttle boat across the river, and a unique bike ride in the jungle area of Bangcock. Best offered good explanations of the sites and answered questions. We went to feed the fish and saw a lot of the country side of Bangcock. The roads are fairly narrow during parts of the trip so i would recommend you are somewhat comfortable riding a bike prior to this activity. The local lunch place best took us to had delicious food!
We really enjoyed our tour, our guide Sao was very knowledgeable and obviously enjoyed her job. It was very hot and I forgot my cap not a good idea. The first part of the tour is on Bangkok roads which was easy but a little exciting, mixing it with the traffic. We then visited the slums which was interesting before we arrived at the river and had the long tail boat crossing to the main area of jungle / national park. Riding around the lush green swamp / park was the best bit. We got to feed the fish, we saw a few monitor lizards and then stopped at a local cafe for a typical Thai meal which was good. Then back on the bikes to start our ride back. You do need a level of riding skill for me that would be the ability to balance as the raised narrow cycle ways are quite tricky if you are prone to a few wobbles. That aside, we really enjoyed it and they send you a lovely video after. Well worth a try and Sao our guide was great.
Very conscientious and professional tour company checked up on several who were missing and/or late without compromising the tour for others, very accommodating to clients. The tour itself is as described, highly recommended, and led by people who obviously love Bangkok and love what they do. Many thanks.
Well worth doing x
