I do not remember the name of our guide but he was English, from the North East as far as I recall. In any event he led our small group on a most enjoyable trail around cold war Berlin for 4 hours.His knowledge and enthusiasm on the subject were infectious. I particularly enjoyed where we could see the line of where tunnels had been dug, and the viewing point. We have visited Berlin many times and this was one of our most enjoyable experiences there.
This trip was fantastic. Our guide Torben was absolutely brilliant. He was very friendly and approachable, exceptionally knowledgeable, very kind and good fun. The tour took us to parts of East Berlin that we would never have found as a tourist. We not only walked but also caught the train and visited the Stase, the wall, the Ghost station, the bohemian quarter and at all times being provided with the detailed history and events. I would highly recommend this tour. It is exceptional value for the cost.
fascinating. Enjoyed even by those with little interest in history
The guide was very knowledgeable and we covered a lot of ground both walking and by subway. However, I am disappointed in Viator's booking practices. I am 65 but when I tried to book the tour on-line for one senior, the response was that the tour was unavailable. When I switched to one adult, the trip miraculously was available. Shame on you, Viator, for discriminating.
This tour was amazing. We saw many sights that we would never have been able to see on our own. The tour was four hours, and we used the Berlin metro to get to many of the sites. Our guide, Rick, was exceptionally enthusiastic about this tour he said it was his favourite one. He didn't just show us sites, he personalized the experience, and made us understand what life was like for East Berliners.
Kevin was excellent at explaining the era and the sites, many of them emotionally moving.
The sites chosen by the guide were very atmospheric and really captured the sentiment and emotions of the divided city and what was happening in East Berlin. The wall itself, the gathering places for opposition against the communist regime, the events of 1989 were all covered. A very thoughtful tour.
