Om den här aktiviteten
Discover Tropical North Queensland on a day trip from Cairns to Kuranda, a rainforest village known for its markets, wildlife attractions and lush surrounding landscape. In order to do what interests you most, you have your choice of the five tour options described below in the Itinerary section — make your selection when booking.
All tours include a one-way ride on the Kuranda Scenic Railway and a one-way ride on the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway (direction of each depends on option selected), as well as hotel pickup and drop-off in Cairns and the northern beaches. All tours also include free time in Kuranda so you can explore the village however you wish. Shop at the markets, enjoy lunch at one of the many restaurants, or get up close and personal with Australian wildlife at Birdworld, the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary or Kuranda Koala Gardens, where you can cuddle with one of nature’s cutest creatures (food, drinks and entrance fees are at your own expense, unless stated otherwise).
Kuranda Scenic Railway: The one-way train ride is approximately 1.5 hours. Hear about the pioneering history of the region from the onboard commentary, and admire spectacular views of the landscape that includes mountains, waterfalls and rainforest. Pass through Barron Gorge National Park, stopping for a photo op at the gorge, and cross Stoney Creek Bridge. When you reach the Kuranda train station, notice its tropical gardens and heritage-listed building.
Skyrail Rainforest Cableway: Glide over the rainforest in a 6-passenger gondola, admiring unbeatable views as you pass over the peak of the mountain range. During the 4.5-mile (7.5-km) ride, stop twice along the way to hop out and explore the environment. Walk along a boardwalk on the forest floor, take photos from scenic lookouts and visit the interpretive center.

We enjoyed this tour very much ! We had hesitated between all the available options in Kuranda and eventually decided to take the scenic railway to go to Kuranda and the Skyrail cableway to come back. We are very happy about it, both are different, it was very interesting : - to take the historic train, learn more about its construction and be immersed in the landscape, while also making a stop to see Barron Falls - and then travelling above the rainforest (it is impressive to be so high above ground, so be careful about that if you are afraid of heights). Pick-up and drop-off at the hotel were greatly appreciated. During our time in Kuranda we had time to see shops, we also did a part of a rainforest walk and strolled near the river. Type of visit : family (adults)
The whole experience was amazing and very well planned. From pick up to drop off the service was first rate. Would highly recommend the adventure.
The pacing for this day was good, we had enough time at each of the stops and everything was clear. I'd definitely do this day trip again!
Train trip from Freshwater station through the Rainforest, spectacular scenery especially going round this curves!!! Cable car back, flying over the Rainforest, wonderful experience.
Good tour. The sky rail ride is going up first, and the train ride's going around we're able to see Barron Falls both ways was excellent. See natural animals especially Kangaroo we're able to feed and touch his hair so soft. Recommended.
Trip was well managed, excellent guide and driver. So many all trips get boring from so much driving, however, guide split trip up so we were at new site often.
The sky gondolas are brilliant , offering fantastic views of the rain forest ! The railway was out of commission due to recent flooding, but the Koala experience at Kuranda with Ivy The Koala proved to be the highlight of our trip !
I took the train up to Kuranda and took the sky rail back. This was recommended as the best way to go, which was great as the sky rail over the rain forest is amazing. I loved Kuranda and ended up with three hours to explore. I went to the wildlife sanctuary and held a kangaroo. The staff there is so nice and allows you to take extra pics with your personal camera as well as their professional photo. My friends went to the butterfly place and said it was amazing. And, as I said, while the train ride up was nice, the sky rail over the rain forest was truly amazing.
The train ride is over-hyped. It's not nearly as spectacular as everyone makes it out to be. Kuranda is very touristy. The best part was the wild bird park, where you got to feed all kinds of native birds - very much fun. The gondola ride on the way back was much better - spectacular views all around.
Unfortunately the railway was closed due to rain, but the skyway and Kuranda were still excellent
Good day out, well organised and good value.
