The Grand Canal has a long and illustrious history since it was first used in 1779 connecting Dublin with the river Shannon. The main line of the canal is 131 km (81 miles) in length with 43 locks. The locks are still used today despite being 200 years old and operated manually.

You will be provided with a more detailed history once on board. Pick up and dropping point of the cruise is on Mespil Road, by the Grand Canal. The barge is located just beside the Mespil Hotel. Boarding will start at 7pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays 6pm on Fridays and Saturdays.

Once on board, you can enjoy a full bar serving a wide range of drinks, such as beer, wine, whiskey, Guinness and much more. During the 2-hour cruise, you will be served a delicious 3-course meal, which can be chosen from a set of five starters, five main courses and two desserts. Any dietary request should be informed to the local supplier in advance. The barge can cater for up to 60 people on board.

The dining area has a nice atmosphere, and during the cruise you will be able to see the historical lock in operation. Feel welcome to sit on the deck with your drink and take in the sights of Dublin city while passing along the Grand Canal.

We had a wonderful time. The service was excellent. The food was 5 Star gourmet. We had Duck Leg confit. Delicious. The atmosphere in the cabin was elegant. After dinner we sat up on deck and sipped wine and enjoyed the canal. The gals even brought dessert up for everyone. Worth doing!!

This is second time we have done this cruise. The food was outstanding..didn't expect that. Beautiful cruise down the river and the locks we went through were fascinating. Crew took good care of us. Highly recommend.

5 Star....excellent food, very quaint, charming and experience the canal and loch experience first hand....it was a pleasant surprise!
