You will meet in Piazza Santa Croce where the church containing Michelangelo's tomb is located. You will be exploring the city center, stop on the Ponte Vecchio bridge, feast your eyes on the heart-stopping view over the hills that circle Florence. Then you will walk by the Town hall and the spectacular Loggia in Piazza della Signoria; this is the political heart of Florence. On one side, you will enjoy the renowned Uffizi Gallery, once the Great Duke’s headquarters, then admire Palazzo Vecchio, the historic seat of the Florentine Government.
The tour continues to the old market where you will play with good luck Porcellino. We have 4 girls (ages 5, 9, 9 and 11) and we met Rachelle for this tour at 2 in the afternoon. This was the first thing we did when we got to Florence, and it was a great way to start our visit. The tour was private, with just our family. Rachelle showed us all the popular spots and gave us plenty of time to see what we wanted to. She was great with the kids of all ages. She took our 5 year olds hand while walking to make sure there were no incidents with cars, but talked to the other kids at their more grown up level. She did a great job using the points system to keep the kids entertained and to create a little friendly competition between parents and kids. I loved that the points sort of recapped and ensured they soaked in the history. They were so interested in the history that they even forgot about the points at some times. I definitely recommend this trip. I loved where it ended, leaving us easy access to the leather market and to eat at San Lorenzo, but we were also able to walk back to the Duomo for our 6pm tour there.
A great walking tour of Florence for adults and kids. Rachele did a great job pointing out little details and involving the kids throughout the tour... and even more impressive was able to keep our band together through the massive tourist season crowds
We had an amazing time with Martina. She was great with our kids and we learned so much about Florence! This is a great tour to book if you have school age children with you.
