Make your own way to the launch spot in the hilltop village of San Casciano Val di Pesa, roughly 9 miles (15km) from Florence.

Meet your expert captain and crew, listen to a safety briefing and help inflate your hot air balloon, if you wish. Then, step into the basket and take to the skies on a 1-hour hot air balloon flight over Tuscany! Each basket holds between four and 16 people, and there’s plenty of room for you to sightsee comfortably as you soar up and away.

Look out onto the beautiful rolling hills of the Tuscan countryside, dotted with lovely villages, vineyards, cypress trees, castles, olive groves and fruit orchards. Where do I begin? The email from Viator gave an incorrect pickup address even though we paid to be picked up from our hotel. We show up to the address provided by Viator and called the local hot air balloon company to find out the status of the driver. They wanted us to find the driver even though we are the foreigner and client and do not know our way around this town well. The driver eventually finds his way to us and was very cold to us. He was not friendly or welcoming at all. We arrive at the hot air balloon site and he drops us off. The driver told us that we needed to walk through the muddy tall field and refused to drive us any closer. We were not provided any booties to cover our nice shoes and the mud ruined both our shoes today. We walk through the muddy field only to be greeted by an employee laughing at us. We then get on our hot air balloon which was a pleasant experience once on the balloon. But we are very disappointed overall and will never again pay for a transport through Viator. We will instead book a private driver through our hotel.

Transportation came and picked us up and took us right to the hot air balloons. We hoped on with another 2 people and had plenty of space to turn around and see many views. We paid extra since my husband is over the weight limit and thus why there was only 4 of us in the hot air balloon. The others had 6 people in them and didn't look like they had as much room to wiggle around, but I know there are different size baskets. It was extremely peaceful and the views were spectacular. We had an easy landing in a wheat field where they set up a table with a beautiful Proseco toast and snacks. Transportation picked us up at the end of the wheat field and drove us back to the hotel. It was well worth every penny. Also, our flight operator was very kind, answered questions and explained what we were seeing without talking the whole time so we come enjoy the peace and serenity. Excellent and we would do this again in a heart beat!

It was a beautiful experience! Soaring over the sunflower fields, the stream, and even skimming treetops was a thrill! :-
