Om den här aktiviteten
From the Abraham Hostel in central Jerusalem, take public transport two hours southwest to the city of Hebron, the second-largest Palestinian city after Gaza, nestled in the Judaean mountains.

Since the early 20th century, Jewish and Arabic national movements have struggled to attain sovereignty for their people in this region of the Middle East. Hebron's population is split between Palestinians and Israelis living in two divided sectors: H1, controlled by Palestine, and the much smaller H2, administered by Israel.

Your visit begins on the Israeli side of Hebron, onboard a bullet-proof bus, with your expert guide — an Israeli Jew — who provides a narrative of the cultural, religious and political tension from his people’s perspective.

Arrive at the Jewish side of the Tomb of the Patriarchs, home to the symbolic tombs of Abraham and other biblical figures, all said to be buried in the cave beneath. Then tour Jewish settlements of the city to see important landmarks such as the Avraham Avinu synagogue, the hilltop Tel Rumeida archaeological site, the Shavei Hevron Yeshiva community center, and the Beit Hadassah museum.

After you part with your Israeli guide, cross over into H1 to meet your Palestinian guide for the second portion of your tour. Opt for lunch on your own, or in a friendly Palestinian family’s house. Enjoy rooftop views of the city as the home-cooked meal is prepared.

Reconvene to tour the bustling city center. With the help of your guide, speak with locals to learn about the difficult conditions of Palestinians living near Jewish settlements. You'll also visit the Muslim side of the Tomb of the Patriarchs, known as the Ibrahimi Mosque (Abraham Mosque).

Relax on the drive back to Jerusalem in the evening.

A brilliant and thought provoking day in a totally divided city. I had heard a lot about Hebron, mainly a bias view on how badly the Israeli's are treating the Palestinian's so I wanted to hear both sides of the story and find out the truth of the situation. So this 'duel narrative tour' was ideal. We met Gabriel, our Jewish guide, he gave us a brilliant insight into the conflict and how this the people of Hebron were trying to deal with it. So we got on a bullet proof bus to make the journey from Jerusalem. When we reached Hebron, Gabe intoduced us to Mohammed our Muslim Palestinian guide who took us through the check point. Here we walked through a beautiful old part of the city and talked to several people who said how much the Jewish people had persecuted them and were ruining their lives. We then came back, through the check point, to the Jewish part of the city. Gabriel showed us where the Palestinians had murdered Jewish people, including a baby and 6 students and where a teddy bear had been stuffed with explosives and placed in a playground!! We were introduced to a Jewish lady who told her own story and gave her views on how this situation could be resolved. What a day! So interesting hearing both sides. One side will not accept a resolution, the other side want nothing but peace and a way to live together as one nation. Could not fault the day.
