As we stand Mount Scopus we see the Old City and the Temple Mount where the Solomon’s Temple, destroyed by the Babylonians in 586 BCE, and the Second Temple, destroyed by the Romans in 70 CE once stood.
Entering the Old City through the Zion Gate we pass the Armenian Quarter on our way to the Jewish Quarter and the fifteen year old Byzantine Cardo. Partially destroyed and unused during the Moslem conquest it had a brief new lease of life during the Crusader period. The excavated Crusader shops are now modern stores.
We stop at the Kotel, the Western Wall where Jews have prayed since the destruction of the Temple in 70 CE. Built by King Herod it was a supporting wall enclosing the enlarged Temple Mount area.
The Via Dolorosa, also known as the Way of the Cross, is the route many pilgrims follow on their way to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, the church built over the place of the crucifixion of Jesus and the burial tomb. Although the Byzantine church waspartially destroyed during the Persians and Moslem conquests the rebuilt and redesigned Crusader Church preserved much of the earlier church.
We exit the Old City via the market and the Jaffa Gate for a short tour of the new city. A visit to Yad VeShem, the Holocaust museum, reveals artifacts and photographs documenting the discrimination, persecution and finally the annihilation of the Jewish communities of Europe. It also remembers those righteous among the nations who risked their lives while trying to save Jews.

Absolutely a great full day tour. I, nor my girlfriend have ever been. I am RC and she is Russian Jewish. We had such a great educational journey. It was deeply felt and eye opening. Our guide was a local from Jerusalem and was more than professional. We recommend this tour as it accompasses all four quarters and The West Wall. Great tour!
We had a wonderful tour guide called Ami. He was friendly, inspiring, full of information, enthusiastic and sincere in what he was saying. The tour started with a drive up to a high point so that we could look over the whole city. It was such a beautiful view and we had the opportunity to get out of the bus, film and take photos. The tour continued on from there so that we could see other important sites along the route to the old city, such as the Mount of Olives. Pity there was no time to stop there, though. Walking through the streets of Old Jerusalem, seeing key places, both Jewish and Christian, and having the historical, traditional and biblical references explained in such detail while we were actually there was wonderful. It's was a great experience for Bible scholars, but even if you were not, the tour guide's narrative made up for that. He literally brought the Biblical accounts to life. We had no idea beforehand, however, that there would be so much walking at pace in the heat of the day. If you're not very fit, be prepared. Wearing a hat is a MUST so as to not fade away from heat exhaustion or sun stroke, and non-slip shoes are advisable as the street stones are smooth, no doubt worn down by the thousands of pilgrims who've visited over decades. The tour also involves climbing lot of steps up to and down from some of the sacred places, as well as up to the restaurant where we had lunch. Its quite a strenuous tour and was a challenge for us, not to mention a few of the older members of our group. The last stop on the tour was the visit to the Holocaust museum, which was informative and interesting. We were not accompanied inside by our tour guide, so we were unable to ask any questions about what we saw nevertheless being able to visit the museum was a valuable part of the day. For all of the sites we visited and for what we saw, we would say that the tour reflected good value for money and would highly recommend it.
Booked an English tour and found myself the only English speaker amongst a group of Spanish speakers. The guide was not good and spoke more Spanish than English. Also saw none of New Jerusalem. Would not recommend.
Title of this tour is misleading, it should be labeled Old Jerusalem and holocaust museum tour, you spend the morning touring old Jerusalem and whole afternoon touring holocaust museum. You can see as much putting the Holy Sepulchre church and wailing wall on your google maps and touring on your own.
First of all Three Stars May seem like a so/so review - but this was actually a really good tour BUT the first rule of excursions is to do as described in the description and itinerary of the actual tour which this tour DID NOT. Firstly, the tour says youll start your tour on the Mount of Olives and then spend time in the Gardens of Gethsemane WRONG what we actually did was drive straight to the Old City and our guide said there is the Mount of Olives out of your mini bus window on the left take pictures quickly as we have to keep moving - I asked about the Gardens of Gethsemane and she replied No not on this Tour? Then the Old City was a little rushed to be honest and we were told You havent got time to wait for 3 hours to see the Tomb of Christ - as we havent got time in actual fact myself and my partner came back the following day by ourselves and the waiting time for The Tomb of Christ was exactly 28 minutes? The Jewish Apocolypse Museum was necessary and harrowing to visit - but the entire afternoon was dedicated to this visit and our guide said this museum is important to me and quite rightly so but clearly the day was skewed in favour of where the tour guide wanted to go? A very good tour - but not as described in the Tour Description.
