After being picked up from Lahaina Pier, your Maui shore excursion starts with a drive to the Iao Valley. Walk into the lush forest and learn about the history of Iao, the beautiful daughter of Maui.

In 1790, King Kamehameha conquered Maui at Iao Valley to unite the Hawaiian Islands, and changed the course of Hawaiian history. Amble around Iao Valley State Park and view the exhibits at the Hawaii Nature Center. The 2,250-foot (685-meter) Iao Needle looks over Iao Stream, and the steep cliffs of the West Maui Mountains afford scenic views.

You'll learn about Hawaii's 14 most-popular flower and food crops, such as papaya, guava, mango, taro, macadamia nuts and coffee. We had a fantastic tour guide who provided excellent personal service, we visited a number of "extra" places (including a budist temple and the Lahaina High School) because we had some spare time. Karen, our tour operator was extremely friendly and knowledgable. The tour was one of the highlights on our vacation.
