Leaving Lisbon in the morning, go to The Templars Castle of Almourol, located in a small island in the middle of the river Tagus. After, visit the Castle of the Order of Christ(the old Templars). And we will have free time for lunch in the historical center of tomar. Once you have had lunch (own expense), there is still time to visit the fabulous Medieval castle of Óbidos to walk through its old streets in the historical center, located entirely inside the wall of the Castle. At the end of your group tour, relax on your return to Lisbon, ending at your chosen designated location.

I am a great fan of the history of the Knights Templar and this private tour did not disappoint. Our driver picked us up right at the door of the hotel and was friendly, the car was spotless and the size perfect for our group of four. A private tour is definitely worth the money - no rushing through sites like normal excursions. You set your own pace and spend more time where you like and less at other sites. Our first stop was Almoural Castle where you take a small boat to the castle on an island. Only four other people there! All I can say about the castle is WOW! We climbed to the top for the views and it was amazing. Then on to Tomar and its Templar castle. Again, we spent as much time as we wanted and we wanted a lot of time here. Again, outstanding. Our last stop was Obidos and I will say that this stop was a bit underwhelming after the first two. The castle is difficult to see from the town, but since this was a private tour, we were able to spend less time here. Obidos was great, but did not match up to Almoural and Tomar. If you like Templar history, this is definitely the tour for you. We will definitely be booking private Viators again.
