So many artists over the years have made the French Riviera their home, drawn by the azure-blue sea, vibrant colors and fabled clear light for which the region is so famous. No surprise then that the cosmopolitan city of Nice boasts museums-a-plenty, with artwork from different eras lurking ‘round every corner.

After pickup from your central Nice hotel, head straight to the leafy Cimiez neighborhood with your guide for your first Nice museum visit of the day -- the Chagall Museum. The Chagall Museum was interesting as it displayed some of his largest works.The Villa Ephrussi was absolutely stunning. Besides the villa and gardens, the views were wonderful. The one disappointment was that the Matisse Museum was closed, and this should have been pre-determined before we started the tour. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable. Overall, a wonderful experience.

We had a excellent tour guide. She was easy to understand and very knowledgeable. At the end of the tour, she asked our opinions, and she made our unanimous opinions part of her plan to improve the time future visitors would spend at each venue. We ALL loved the Chagall Museum the best and feel that spending way too much time at the Villa Rothschild was the biggest needed change. We also felt the Matisse Museum was not great, as it was so small. Apparently, most o the actual Matisse paintings are around the world in bigger museums.

Wonderful trip, made all the better by our guide Camille. She was excellent. The Villa and Gardens were the highlights for us. The Villa was beautiful, but the garden and views are breathtaking. Although we do not appreciate so much modern art we did think that for fans of Chagall and Matisse the museums were extremely well laid out. Again a big thank you to Camille for such a wonderful trip.
