Snorkel and Swim with a Whale Shark Tour

Quintana Roo is a paradise and one of the most beautiful species visits the area, "The Whale shark" (Rhincodon typus). It feeds primarily on phytoplankton, nekton, macro algae, krill, and sometimes on crustaceans (crab larvae and squid) and small schooling fish (anchovies, sardines, mackerel and tuna). The whale shark is a fish and it is ovoviviparous (born from an egg and gestated in the womb of the mother, being born alive). The shark can filter 60,000 liters of wáter per minute, is a phytoplankton-eating machine and swim at a speed of 1.8 to 3.1 MPH, it also can dive up to 765 yards.

You will start the tour by being picked up at your hotel early, hot coffee will be served. After arriving in Punta Sam you will board the boat, and begin the search for the coveted whale shark.

Once in the boat you will enjoy a small snack, consisting of a ham or chicken sandwich. Something very light for swimming beside our friend the shark. You will experience the warmth of the Mexican captain and his friendly crew that will make you feel pampered and well taken care of.

You will get ready to swim in pairs. Always go with a guide, who care as much about you as the beautiful animals. 

After swimming with the whale shark, you will snorkel in a reef. It is worth mentioning that the Yucatan peninsula reef is the second largest barrier reef in the world.
