Hjalti was an excellent guide! We had a fabulous time and we really appreciated his wealth of knowledge about your wonderful country. We learned so much!
The itinerary is well planned including all major attractions within the limit of 6 days. Accommodation is comfy and clean. We have particularly enjoyed the boat trip at Glacier Lagoon (extra cost) and whale watching in big boat. We have thought of changing to rhib boat, but was glad we didn't change cos the rhib boat may be closer to whales but doesn't include fishing (fun and tasty to eat grilled fish!!) and trip was shorter. Overall, we have totally relaxed and enjoyed the trip a lot, without having to drive at all.
This tour was amazing. I exceeded my expectations and I got to see so much of Iceland and it's hard to believe that there is still so much more to see in Iceland. Our tour guide Hjalti Björnsson was a great guide. He was very informative and very sociable with our group. He shared so much information about the sites we visited and also shared personal experiences. I would definitely request him again if I did another tour in Iceland. I went on this trip alone I was part of a group of 17 including me. For future travelers, just keep in mind that you will be traveling with these travelers for 6 days and they are from all over the world. You will be exposed to different families, cultures/customs and its something you will have to be open-minded when traveling. I was able to meet new people and develop friendships through this tour. Another reason I recommend this tour is because you get to go around all of Iceland. So many ppl only get to tour part of it, but with this tour I saw all the main attractions and more. So its definitely worth the price but more importantly worth the experience!!
This trip is fantastic. Every day has new incredible outdoor sites and activities. We walked on a Glacier, hiked to amazing waterfalls, saw Yellowstone like Geysers, went Whale Watching. The accommodations were basic but adequate. You need to be reasonable fit to enjoy this trip but not a big hiker. No one was forced to do anything. The tour guide was terrific and Iceland is amazing. Everything is expensive in Iceland so be prepared. North of Manhattan where I am from. The only negative was Viator. They are actually just a booking agent for Arctic Adventures. I suggest booking directly with them. We got no information from Viator, not even the voucher without having to call. Their agents cover a wide range of bookings and had very limited knowledge. Once we were connected directly with the operator everything was great.
It was an awesome tour and it has exceeded my expectations by multiple folds. Let me begin with my first day's encounter with our tour guide cum coach driver - Norbert or fondly known as Norris. He was punctual on the pick-up time and welcomed us on board with open arms. It's a 20-seaters mini coach but there were only 13 of us for the entire trip so it was reasonably comfortable and we had the chance to rotate our seating arrangement throughout the journey. I was amazed that Norris's dedication to his job was so profound that he went for a second or even third round to ensure he did not omit picking up all his passengers on the list even though a couple of the passengers did not turn up at their respective pick-up destinations. We covered all the places as stipulated in the itinerary and we even had a few pleasant surprises when Norris diverted to some nearby interesting spots which were not on the itinerary. Kudos, Norris! I would say all the hotels included in the tour we checked in were fantastic with clean bedsheets, towels and shower facilities. Wi-fi was excellent in all the hotels. However there was a couple of hotels i think in the eastern / northern Iceland which were so isolated from the town center where we had to dine in the hotel restaurant. Personally i find the hotel food prices were exorbitant. Well, most of the things in Iceland are expensive anyway! We were given sufficient time to explore the sites and what i enjoyed the most was the informative commentaries given by Norris before we arrived at the next stops. Simply excellent. I just love his local folklore and troll stories which inspired me to buy a couple of these books for collection. It's so amazing that he could remember his story lines so well. You will never feel bored listening to his bedtime story everyday. So folks, if you are interested to explore Iceland and would like to join a local tour i strongly recommend you to go for Arctic Adventures. It's cool, stylist and value for money, Oh i nearly forgot to mention we had a great company of fun-loving people from all over the world in our small group - Australia, Ireland, Turkey, Germany, USA Ohio. Holland, Brazil and Malaysia! The small number is just the right size to mingle and know each other better. Of course we had already exchanged contact numbers to stay in touch. You see, new friends are easy to make when you participate in a smaller group tour. Last but not least, you need to be very picky to choose who your guide is if you ever consider joining Arctic Adventures to see Iceland. It gotta be Norris - the cool dude!!!! Ciao! I loved my time in Iceland, and for the most part the tour with Arctic Adventures. Our guide, Frimann, was friendly, helpful, and very knowledgeable about the country. They managed to squeeze so much fun into 6 days. It almost seemed too rushed as we had so much on our agenda that we were very limited in how long we could spend at each place we visited and there was a lot of driving time each day many times I'd have liked to stay longer, but on the other hand keeping it to 6 keeps the cost down. Reasons why I cannot give the full 5 stars: The vehicle was way too cramped, particularly the back row. It was ridiculously uncomfortable to squeeze 4 full grown adults into that row for the long amount of driving we did each day. Too much time in the car and not enough time enjoying Iceland's many wonders again, it was necessary in order to keep this itinerary at this cost, but all the same.
