Salzburg Superspar: Dagstur med klassiska Sound of Music och saltgruvor
Bavarian Mountains and Salt Mines
On leaving Salzburg the journey takes us along the King's Lake river to the picturesque Alpenstrasse. Upon arrival at the mines slip into traditional miners' clothes and enter the mines to hear historical and legendary tales of the fascinating underground world. Using the same slides as hundreds of miners before, descend to the grottos, the magical world beneath the surface of the earth. You end your adventure with a raft sail across the famous salt lake, accompanied by eerie, mystical sounds.
Original Sound of Music Tour
Highlights of the Original Sound of Music Tour, recommended by Maria von Trapp, include a tour of Mirabell Gardens, where Maria and the children danced to 'Do-Re-Mi', and the opportunity to view the wedding church at Mondsee. In between film locations you can relax and listen to the famous songs and lyrics from the film, including 'Edelweiss', 'Sixteen Going on Seventeen' and of course the glorious title song 'The Sound of Music'. The tour also takes in the historical and architectural landmarks in the city of Salzburg, as well as a part of the picturesque lake district.

Actually two separate tours booked together, with time for lunch in between. We went to the mines in the morning, beautiful views all the way to there. The mine was fun, but of course, it's an amusement park ride, not an adventure tour. No photos allowed but they sell you the photos they take, 10 euros for two pictures. The afternoon tour was the Sound of Music tour. Our guide was funny, very well prepared, without him, I wouldn't like the tour. It is a bus tour, you go to Mondsee, and the guide points out the sites were the movie was filmed, you stop on the lake, the to see the gazebo (no visit to Hellbrunn palace), and finally Mondsee and you either take a little sightseeing bus train shaped (at your own expenses), or you walk (ten minutes) to the church (free entrance), and then you have time to walk around, and back to Mirabell Gardens were the tour started. Both guides were very good, the program itself could be better.
The salt mines tour was very good and educational. Antonio our guide and driver was also excellent a host and made our trip super fun. The scenic drive to the mines was so beautiful and we got to see the countryside covered in the first snow of winter. Truly magical.
The salt mine tour is very interesting and informative. The tour guide very knowledgeable and I enjoyed the tour.. especially the slides in the mines! However, I must admit I purchased this tour mainly for the SOM tour. Wolfgang was my tour guide for the Sound of Music tour and I do not think it gets better than him! We saw all the sites including the Gazebo.. Wolfgang was extremely accommodating at taking pictures since I was on a solo trip. He threw on SOM songs throughout the tour as pertaining to the sites we were seeing. I could not have had a better birthday. I highly recommend this tour if you are a SOM fan.
