Zenato winery tour and Amarone tasting
The Zenato winery is a member of The Grand Wine Tour: an Association of the finest wineries across Italy offering exclusive wine tastings, boutique hotels, Michelin-starred restaurants & unique activities dedicated to wine lovers and a luxury clientele. TGWT Mark of Excellence is the very first Italian certification of quality distinguishing high standards in wine tourism hospitality.
Established in 1960 by Sergio Zenato, the Zenato winery overlooks the Veneto shore of Lake Garda from Tenuta S. Cristina, Peschiera, where 60 hectares of vineyards are devoted to Trebbiano di Lugana, and from Tenuta Costalunga, Valpolicella, where 35 hectares produce the renowned Corvina, Rondinella and Oseleta grape varieties. Today, his wife Carla and his children Alberto and Nadia spread the excellence of Zenato wines in over 65 countries around the world.
Passion, talent, experience, endless dedication to their land and to the valorization of autochthonous vines have been the invaluable heritage of the Zenato family for more than 50 years.
At the beginning of the 1960s Sergio Zenato understood the enormous potential of the native Trebbiano di Lugana grape variety and decided - when no one believed in it - to realize its unfulfilled potential. This is how Lugana became an outstanding white wine, with the dignity that earned it the DOC (Registered Designation of Origin) recognition.
The Zenato S. Cristina estate stands south of Lake Garda, in the town of Peschiera del Garda, and its grapes have given birth to internationally awarded wines such as Lugana S. Cristina and Lugana Riserva Sergio Zenato, one of the flagships of the Zenato brand. It was from the desire to meet the challenges of sparkling wine production and to express the versatility of the Trebbiano di Lugana estate that Lugana Brut Metodo Classico and Lugana Pas Dosé Metodo Classico were born.
TOUR
The tour begins among the historic vineyards of the Zenato family in Lugana. Immersed in the greenery between the vine rows, you will admire Lake Garda and the Morainic hills before visiting the cellar to find out how native grapes are processed and how the winemaking process works. You will then visit the two rooms dedicated to Amarone, the King of Valpolicella, and the underground winery, the oldest section of the cellar, where our red wines rest. Here you will have the chance to discover and experience first hand the two different soils of Lugana and Valpolicella, which bring our outstanding wines to life. The tour ends with a tasting of Zenato wines in a truly impressive setting, surrounded by the family's “libraries” where the most valuable vintages are kept.
