The gardens of Vienna's Schönbrunn Palace are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the city's greatest treasures. Covering a vast area, the beautiful Baroque landscapes are sprinkled with ornamental monuments, pools, mazes and fountains as well as other attractions such as Schönbrunn Zoo and the spectacular Gloriette monument.
With so much to see, the gardens can be overwhelming for even the most intrepid visitors. So remove the punishing legwork, and explore the site aboard a miniature, hop-on, hop-off panorama train that circumnavigates the grounds.
Entrance to the Schönbrunn Palace Gardens is free, so all you need do is enter via any of the main gates, and then, armed with your 1-day train ticket, hop aboard the mini-train outside the Schönbrunn Palace or the Gloriette to explore the sights at your own pace. Learn about the gardens from the onboard commentary and either remain on the train for an entire loop (roughly 50 minutes) or hop on and hop off at any of the nine stops to create your own sightseeing itinerary.
Give the steep walk up to the Gloriette a miss by riding up to the hilltop terrace, or jump off to see showstoppers such as the ornate Obelisk Fountain and Roman Ruin. You can also hop on and off to see the glass Palm House and visit Schönbrunn Zoo (entrance fee applies).

A no frills 1 hour train ride, purely provided for those who rather not walk around the vast Schonbrunner Gardens.
The mini-train tour is really good way to visit gardens in a short time. It also helps in orientation where we can walk after train round. To catch the mini-train is quite easy. The 10- minut break near Glorietta is also a good idea.
Absolutely delightful! Ideal way to see round the extensive grounds before doing the palace. Allow plenty of time as there are several interesting stopping-off points en route. When visiting the Palm houses don't get the train to the Zoo,it's just next door! We felt rather silly on our one-stop leg of the journey! The train stops for ten minutes up at the Gloriette, which is enough time to look round, but as there is also a restuarant there, lunch is an option. Buy your tickets on line well in advance as they are cheaper!
I was not impressed with the gardens. Really there are no actual gardens that you see from this train. The train takes you around the grounds of the palace but everything else costs extra to see. I did not think this was a good value. Also there was no reason to buy tickets in advance at a more expensive price from viator then buying them directly on the train.
